Sam Smith Cancels The Remainder Of His Australian Tour Due To Health Issues

Sam Smith has announced that, due to on-going health issues, he will be cancelling the remainder of his in-progress Australian tour and returning home to rest and recover on Doctor’s orders.

The British crooner had begun his New Zealand & Australian tour with shows in Auckland, Brisbane, and a performance at the Hordern Pavilion in Sydney last night. Smith was due to take the stage at the Hordern for a second show tonight, but the announcement today puts that show, and the remaining Australian dates on his schedule, on the shelf for the time being.
In a statement issued through tour promoter Frontier Touring‘s Facebook page a short while ago, Smith expressed his dismay at the cancellations.

“I am deeply, deeply saddened to tell my Australian fans, I have to cancel my Australian tour. I have been vocally exhausted for a while now however last night in Sydney I had a small haemorrhage on my vocal chords. The doctors have told me I need to fully rest until my vocal chords have healed, otherwise this could become a huge long-term issue. I am so sorry to all who have bought tickets, I truly am. This kills me.”

Frontier stated that efforts are currently being made to reschedule the cancelled dates for December of this year, the details of which will be announced “very shortly.”

All ticket holders for the cancelled shows will receive full refunds, and will be offered first priority purchase of tickets for the rescheduled shows when they do go on sale.
All refund information can be found on Frontier’s Facebook post.
The cancelled dates on the tour are as follows.
28th April – Hordern Pavillion, Sydney NSW
30th April – Margaret Court Arena, Melbourne VIC
1st May – Adelaide Entertainment Centre, Adelaide SA
4th May – HBF Arena, Perth WA
Smith was also schedule to appear and perform at the 57th TV Week Logie Awards on May the 3rd. This will also no longer occur.
Sorry, kids. 🙁
Put this on. Try not to cry. Cry a lot.
