Russell Brand, Nicki Minaj, Madden Bros Added To ARIA Lineup

Crack out your least sweat-drenched yoga mat, don your fanciest leopard print finery and pound the alarm because unassuming wallflowers Russell Brand, Nicki Minaj and the Amazing Technicolour Madden Twins will be joining sepia-toned broken-heart Taylor Swift and a bunch of other Australian musicians and media personalities on stage next week at the newly-revamped 2012 ARIA Awards.

Each member of the decorous international contingent will present an award at the November 29th ceremony as part of what will undoubtedly be the highlight of their time in Australia; Brand, who’s here for his ‘I Am The Walrus‘ stand-up tour, Minaj who’s is doing something related to her Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded: The Wig Diaries Or Something Just As Ridiculous tour and the Maddens, who were free so why not?
Joel had this to say of his and Benji’s involvement, because apparently Benji is mute or still going strong with that whole vow of silence thing: “Benj and I are excited to be coming over to the ARIAs this year to present an award, and to celebrate the best in Aussie music. It’s going to be a great night” pretending he didn’t get all those missed calls from Sarah De Bono
The evening’s nominees and performers also include Guy Sebastian, 360, Kimbra, Hilltop Hoods, J-Melly aka Jessica Mauboy, The Jezabels, Missy Higgins and The Temper Trap as well as Yothu Yindi, who are being inducted into the Hall of Fame. Other notable attendees and presenters include Bob Evans, Chris Cheney, Clare Bowditch, Ella Hooper, Erin McNaught, Gossling, Havana Brown, James Kerley, Jesinta Campbell, Josh Pyke, Josh Thomas, Justice Crew, Lanie Lane, Lee Kernaghan, Maude Garrett, Molly Meldrum, Richard Wilkins, Ricki-Lee, Ruby Rose and Timomatic, who I recently learned was not a time keeping mechanism but a thing. That’s pretty much everyone.
All I want to see on the night is a West Side Story style dance off between the casts of The Voice and The X-Factor, or Minaj and Swift. Chances of that happening are high. The ARIAs will screen on TV this week on Channel 9’s digital channel GO! from 7:30pm. They will also take place IRL from 3:30pm. You can buy tickets here. ARIA Week kicks off Monday, and a list of things you can do during ARIA Week can be found here. Knock yourselves out, it’s what Russell would want you to do.
