Ruby Rose Goes All In On “Sloppy Mess” Katy Perry In Twitter Rant

There are few things more entertaining than celebrities being shady to other celebrities via social media, and Ruby Rose has kicked off this weekend with a bang, via a series of mean Tweets directed at rival Katy Perry
Yesterday, Perry dropped ‘Swish Swish‘, the newest track from her upcoming album Witness. Rose, who stars in the upcoming Pitch Perfect 3, was having precisely none of it, and took to twitter to vent:

There are a lot of different references and layers to unpack in that Tweet, so let’s take it step by step:
 – “Purposeful poop” refers to the “purposeful pop” era that Katy Perry attempted to usher in with ‘Chained To The Rhythm‘, when she announced to the world that she had become woke and politically-conscious. That era apparently ended with …
– “Bomb a petit”, AKA ‘Bon Appetit‘, Katy Perry’s follow-up single, which has thus far failed to make any significant impact on the charts, in spite of its eye-catching video
– The “sloppy mess of writing” is ‘Swish Swish’, the new song Perry released yesterday. The track opens with a famous sample of the words “what the fuck?”, which has previously been used by Fatboy Slim and Funkagenda.
– “Wit” is Perry’s forthcoming release Witness, and any Mean Girls fan knows the origin of “stop trying to make [blank] happen.”

Whew, that was a lot, and reading over all that, it still doesn’t make a whole lot of sense, but I think we got there.
Rose, who is good pals with noted Katy Perry rival Taylor Swift, later added: “I just think with everything going on in the world to go from rebranding as political activist only to ditch it and go low … is … a bummer.”

She claimed to be taking a stand against things that are “cheap and mean-spirited”, and told Perry fans “you should buy all her songs so the songs will finally chart. If as many as tweeted me bought her last 3 … [they’d] be hits.”

Burn.

Perry has yet to respond to this high-level shade, although she may still be busy confusing the hell out of museum patrons with her pal Derek Blasberg
