Rihanna Is Not Having One Single Bar Of Trump Using Her Songs At His Rallies

Rihanna aka Robyn Rihanna Fenty has sent a cease-and-desist letter to Donald Trump after he used ‘Don’t Stop The Music‘ at a Republican campaign rally in Tennessee over the weekend.

In a letter sent Monday and obtained by Rolling Stone, Rihanna’s legal team wrote to Trump’s White House counsel:

It has come to our attention that President Trump has utilised [Rihanna’s] musical compositions and master recordings, including her hit track ‘Don’t Stop the Music,’ in connection with a number of political events held across the United States.

As you are or should be aware, Ms. Fenty has not provided her consent to Mr. Trump to use her music. Such use is therefore improper.

Trump’s unauthorized use of Ms. Fenty’s music… creates a false impression that Ms. Fenty is affiliated with, connected to or otherwise associated with Trump.

Philip Rucker, a reporter for the Washington Post, tweeted on Sunday that the Republicans were playing the hit single while tossing out free Trump t-shirts at the rally.

And Rihanna, who must have a Google Alert on her own name, responded quickly: “Not for much longer…me nor my people would ever be at or around one of those tragic rallies, so thanks for the heads up philip!

Rihanna’s legal letter follows other musicians and their families who have previously demanded the Trump camp stop using their songs at rallies, like Pharrell Williams, Aerosmith‘s Steven Tyler and the Prince estate.

Her Excellency Rihanna CE – she copped the title when she became Barbadian Ambassador at-Large in September – has supported Black Democratic candidate Andrew Gillum in the Florida governor’s race. The 2018 midterm election day in the US is today, November 6.

Yesterday she encouraged her fans to pls, pls, pls vote, writing on Instagram:

FLORIDA: You have the opportunity to make history this election. The US has only had four black Governors in its entire history, and we can help make #AndrewGillum the next one and Florida’s first! If you’re tired of feeling like you don’t matter in the political process, know the most important thing you can do in supporting a candidate is finding someone who will take on critical issues such as: making minimum wage a livable wage, paying teachers what their worth, ensuring criminal justice reform, making healthcare a right, and repealing Stand Your Ground. That’s a platform we MUST support.
