In what is definitely the best news we’ve heard in some time, Rihanna has confirmed rumours that she will have new music coming our way next year. Hell yeah, folks, what a time to be alive.
In characteristic Rihanna fashion, the singer just casually dropped the huge announcement in the comments thread of an Instagram post promoting a lipstick from her Fenty Beauty line.
“But when is the new album dropping Robyn?” a fan asked. “Can we have a release date for that?”
“2019,” she responded, and that was that.
We already had an idea that Rih was preparing to unleash her ninth album, with vocal producer Kuk Harrell saying that the material he’s heard is “amazing” and “incredible”, but this confirms it.
The upcoming tunes will be the first new Rihanna music since ANTI came out in 2016, although in the intervening years, she’s kept busy by completely killing the game in fashion and beauty.
Her Fenty Beauty line of cosmetics became instantly iconic on its launch, with new products frequently selling out the second they hit the shelves at Sephora.
In addition to this, she expanded her empire further when she debuted her all-inclusive Savage x Fenty lingerie line earlier this year with a revolutionary runway show.
She may or may not still be dating her billionaire boyfriend Hassan Jameel – the two were recently spotted on a dinner date in LA, and are said to be keeping their relationship fairly low-key.
