Here’s Red Wiggle Murray Ripping Some AC/DC With DZ Deathrays At Splendour

Folks, unless you’ve been living under a social media rock, you’ll no doubt be aware that Splendour in the Grass is officially on for 2018. And, as such, the acts on the lineup are trotting out the annual parade of fun jams and surprises that the beloved Byron festival is known for. First cab off the rank: DZ Deathrays.

We all know that the DZ lads have a close working relationship with Murray Cook, better known to anyone with a beating heart as Murray the Red Wiggle.

Ole’ Muz appeared in DZ’s official film clip for Like People which just about broke the internet clean in half when it dropped around 5 months ago.

That working relationship has now come full circle thanks to a surprise appearance by Murray during DZ’s set this afternoon, with the Red Wiggly Boy strutting out on stage to help Brisbane group tear through a balls-to-the-wall cover of AC/DC‘s beyond iconic jam Highway To Hell.

We’re talkin’ solos and all. The whole shebang. Murray even cracked out the Gibson SG just for the occasion, because he is nothing if not a living legend.

The appreciative crowd at the festival’s main stage reportedly tossed up a “Big Red Car” chant as Murray left the stage which is… *checks notes* yep, absolutely fucken perfect.

We’ve heard swirling whispers of a few other surprises set to go down as the Splendour weekend rolls on, so if you’re there be sure to keep your ear to the ground. And if you’re not, we’ll have all the coverage on what you’re all missing out on (sob) as it happens.

Hell yeah, Splendour! It’s a bloody marvellous thing.
