If earlier today you felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if billions of voices cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced, it’s because self-described fat man with two kids, Park Jae-Sang or Psy, and his fetch Internet ditty (which by now should require neither introduction nor exposition) ‘Gangnam Style,’ has claimed its one billionth victim on The YouTube; meaning that today is a day of both soaring highs and crushing lows for people everywhere with eyes, ears and feelings.
As is customary when it comes to the commemoration of all that is historic, good and true in both art and this entire world, an animated Psy doing the giddy up thing has been placed next to the video’s view counter, which still rises by the second. Watch him; there he goes, dancing away a timeless yet already so old jig of right-left-right-right and repeat, stamping all over the pithy play counts and thus the careers (and faces) of Justin Biebers, Lady Gagas and Charlie Bit My Fingers Ouch Charlies everywhere.
