Swedish DJ Avicii Has Died At The Age Of 28

Swedish DJ Avicii has died at the age of 28. In a statement released earlier today, representatives said:

“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii. He was found dead in Muscat, Oman, this Friday afternoon local time, 20 April.”

“The family is devastated and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time. No further statements will be given.”

No information was given about his cause of death, however, Avicii suffered from pancreatitis due to excessive drinking, and the condition had stopped him from touring.

“I needed to figure out my life,” he said at the time. “The whole thing was about success for the sake of success. I wasn’t getting any happiness anymore.”

Throughout 2016 and 2017, he took a break from making and listening to music because of his health, telling Rolling Stone that he had not even attended a concert in a year.

“I’m still traumatized,” he said in an interview. “But I’m sure I will again. I’ve started being able to listen to music again, getting a little bit of that joy back.”

Avicii’s career broke through in 2011, when the single ‘Levels ‘ became an international hit and made him one of the biggest names in EDM.

He followed it up with a number of successful singles including the 2013 hits ‘Hey Brother‘ and ‘Wake Me Up‘.
