Minneapolis ain’t exactly an internationally recognised cultural hub on the scale of New York City, New Orleans or Los Angeles, but good Lord, they gave us Prince, and that counts for a hellofalot.
Now, hours after taking to the streets, thousands of punters have wrapped up honouring the Purple One’s life and legacy by getting crazy / nuts to his you-beaut back catalogue. If you can gaze upon this and not want to purify yourself in the waters of Lake Minnetonka, we don’t know what to tell you.

INSIDE @FirstAvenue. Speechless. This is the definition of a #Prince party. The party ends at 7 AM. All local DJs pic.twitter.com/TqfisxhUqV

Shots from earlier in the night really show the scale of the love for their native son.
A panoramic doesn’t do this crowd justice. #PrinceRIP #FirstAvenue @FirstAvenue pic.twitter.com/QetYgsuHpL

In case you were wondering, First Avenue is where the film version of Purple Rain was shot, making this a pretty fitting tribute for a mad and magnificent bastard.
RIP.
