Attention,regular inhabitants of Australia and New Zealand: The Purple One has deigned us all with further details of his (rapidly) upcoming Piano & A Microphone tour, and it already sounds fucking magical.
Prince will be doing eight personal, sensuous shows in total. That works out as four shows at Melbourne State Theatre over February 16 and 17; Two shows at the Sydney Opera House on February 20, and two at Sydney State Theatre on February 21. Kiwis, take heart: you will also be touched by his presence on February 24 in Auckland’s ASB Theatre. Times on those shows haven’t dropped yet.
According to the appropriately-lush press release, the tour has been “carefully considered to deliver special once-in-a-lifetime experiences,” while “those blessed (!) enough to attend” will be gifted with special interpretations of the hits, deviances into his uncountable B-sides, total newies and maybe, just maybe, a return to his recently-performed “Thelonious Monk-style version of the theme to Batman.”
You cannot make this shit up.
You’ll be able to purify yourself in Lake Minnetonka when tickets sales go live at midday AEDT Tuesday February 9, when tickets for the Melbourne shows, the Sydney Opera House shows, the Sydney State Theatre shows go live. Seats at the Auckland show are up for grabs from 12 noon NZDT, Thursday, February 11.
