Premiere: Angus And Julia Stone Go Pulp Fiction In Their New Video For “Heart Beats Slow”

Pulp Fiction meets The Place Beyond The Pines meets stop being a hero, Nash Edegrton in this action packed new film clip for ARIA winning Sydney duo Angus & Julia Stone’s new single “Heart Beats Slow”, the first cut taken from their self-titled new album, their third, recorded in Malibu, California with The Bearded One, Rick Rubin (Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Beastie Boys, Jay Z).

The clip, following three friends with guns, motorbikes and zero fucks to give as they go on a poorly planned heist rampage, was directed by Jessie Hill and shot on location on the streets of Los Angeles. It also stars Aussie actor, stuntman and filmmaker Nash Edgerton and Australian actor Damon Herriman who you might recognise as Justified’s Dewey Crowe or Paranoid Junkie with Shotgun from Breaking Bad.
In a terrifying instance of life imitating art, the band had this to say to Rolling Stone Australia about almost getting shot at by the LAPD: ““Because we were riding a bike carrying guns, we’d organised a police escort while we film, but for a long shot, they had to drop back,” explains Julia. “Then we fanged past this real cops at the lights and they start chasing us,” recounts Angus. “I made the decision to keep riding because if we’d stopped, they might have shot us. It was crazy. We just made it to the escort in time, with the rent-a-cop yelling ‘they’re shooting a movie!’””

We’re glad they survived.

The duo’s self-titled new album, Angus & Julia Stone, is out August 1st via EMI Music Australia (pre-order here).
