People Responsible For ‘The Shire’ Are Making A Michael Hutchence Miniseries

The brilliant minds at Shine Productions, the same people who earlier this year illuminated our screens, hearts and lives with beacon of unscripted joy The Shire, have reportedly been commissioned by Channel Seven to produce a miniseries based on the life of the late Michael Hutchence, charismatic frontman of the late INXS

The news comes just over a fortnight after the fifteenth anniversary of Hutchence’s death, on which it was announced that a biopic, Two Worlds Colliding, inspired by familial memoir Just A Man: The Real Michael Hutchence, was being produced by Robert Galinsky
Shine and Seven’s four part miniseries has the working title Never Tear Us Apart: The INXS Story, and seeing as it’s gifted with the speed and lacking production values associated with its televisual format, it looks like it could hit screens well before Two Worlds Colliding or a third feature film based on the singer, Michael, is anywhere near ready for release.

Michael is reportedly in a later stage of development than each of its competitors (all have started casting), and comes courtesy of writer and director Richard Lowenstein, who had previously worked with Hutchence on 1986 film Dogs in Space.

To be fair, Shine are not solely responsible for the televisual trainwreck that was The Shire, with Channel Ten only yesterday taking ownership of the year that has been its worst. The luminous production company are also responsible for gifting us with Ricky Martin’s VoiceMasterchef: The Whatevez and Everyone’s The Biggest Loser. Take from this what you will.
Aside: is anyone else terrified Ezra Miller is going to score a role as a teenage Hutchence in at least one of these biopics?
