Pedestrian Interviews Two Door Cinema Club and Autokratz

Yesterday we dropped an e-interview with Gildas and Masaya of Parisian clothing line and record label Kitsune. Today we’ve quizzed two acts from their stable – London electro-house duo autoKratz and North Irish indie pop three-piece Two Door Cinema to find out what it’s like working for Fox Overlords. If you like what you hear, both acts feature on the new Kitsune Maison compilation which you can buy here, if you’re so inclined…

TWO DOOR CINEMA CLUB

Pedestrian: How did you get on the Kitsune roster?
Two Door Cinema: Gildas (Mr kitsune) invited us over to Paris to play one of their nights. We played a great show and chatted over some wine. We got on really well and from then on I suppose we knew they were right for us.

TDC: Lo Fi Funk – Want U
Chromeo – Fancy Footwork
Phoenix – 1901

P: Do you feel like you’re one big family?
TDC: Yes with the amount of time we spend together…I suppose we kind of are now as we never hold a grudge against each other. If we have an argument (like all families do) its all forgotten the next day. Alex and I are in London at the minute. Sam is grounded.

P: Dream remix artist?
TDC: Phoenix

P: Who would you like to remix your own tracks (alive or dead, dance producer or not)
TDC: Chromeo, Fake Blood or Boyz Noise.

P: What’s the strangest experience you’ve had playing live/dj-ing?
TDC: We played a show once when everyone stood with their backs to us and no one clapped then someone requested ‘Blame It On The Weather Man’ by Bewitched (a terrible Irish girl band from the 90s). Oh there was that other time Alex and I played a gig without Sam. It’s a family secret. Don’t tell him.

P: What was the first record you ever bought?
TDC: My heart will go on by Celine Dion…

P: What was the last one?
Sam: Manchester Orchestra – Mean Everything To Nothing.
Alex: Passion Pit- Manners
Kev: Phoenix- Wolfgang Amadeus

P: How does it feel to have your face on every Kitsune release from now on?
TDC: smooth, paranoid, excited, nervous, beautiful, euphoric, priveledged, honoured, perfect.

P: What is your daily uniform? Does it involve any Kitsune pieces?
TDC: Unfortunately not…Kitsune clothes are very expensive. Contrast that with our empty bank accounts. Although if Masaya wants to rustle us up some threads we’d be more than happy to promote the kitsune fashion line!
