She kicked off the week by fighting for wealth redistribution amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, and now she’s providing the soundtrack to your weekend on the 20th anniversary of Oops!’s release. We simply can’t help but stan a versatile queen.
Britney took to Instagram to celebrate the anniversary, just a day after she claimed to have beaten Usain Bolt’s world record for running 100m. (Spoiler alert: she didn’t).
“Oops!….how did 20 years go by so fast,” she began the Instagram post. “I can’t believe it. I remember that red suit was so freaking hot.”
“And now we’re sitting in quarantine wishing we were on Mars,” Spears continued. “Of course I am just kidding!!!!! But seriously you have all shown so much support for this song and I thank you for it.”
If we want to get technical, the track was release on March 27 2000, but because of the time difference, we’re celebrating the iconic song today. 20 years on, the track still slaps.
Everything about this is absolute perfection. The lyrics, the outfit, the space-themed music video, and let’s not forget the truly iconic choreography. Does the Lourve take video submissions? If so, let’s scrap the Mona Lisa and give Britney the recognition she deserves.
