Of Montreal make a Tour Documentary

You don’t need Dr. Karl to tell you that the peeps from Georgia indie-band of Montreal, are pretty weird. They enjoy performing naked, in dresses, or at worst, in pig costumes while Susan Sarandon spanks them. Due to premiere on the 5th of March at the Chicago International Movies and Music Festival, their on-the-road documentary, “Family Noveau” is sure to live up to their established standards of quirk. Filmed by an English professor called Spenser Simrill Jnr, the doco charts the band’s 2009 European tour and includes stuff like push-up competitions and back-stage confessionals. As far as tour documentaries go, Family Noveau has a lot to live up to. It might never be in the same realm as the Ramones’ End of the Century or the Stones’ Gimme Shelter, but it’s sure to make its own waves. I gotta admit, if it shows Kevin Barnes singing naked, or in pvc hot pants, it could become my ‘go-to’ movie of 2010.
