You should have seen our faces when we learned that the Askill brothers (Filmmaker Daniel and Fashion Designer Jordan) were collaborating with apocalyptic UK four piece These New Puritans.
But you should really see our faces now as we’re watching the final product – a brooding affair for “We Want War” the first single from the Puritan’s sophomore album Hidden. Daniel Askill makes full use of the tension between light and dark – all slow motion running, underwater shots, murky tones and a Jordan Askill helmet that could well crown the pagan God of totally awesome shit.
At seven and a half minutes don’t expect this doom ballad to play out on mainstream radio anytime soon especially since it starts with a chopped and screwed vocal refrain and ends with sixty seconds of Orchestra elevator music. Yeah, These New Puritans are eclectic like that and that’s why we like them. Hidden drops in mid January.
