New Sufjan Stevens Album Details Announced

Soon after releasing his eight-track, hour-long EP, All The Delighted People, Sufjan Stevens has announced a full-length record slated for release October 12.

It’s been a long time coming. The Age of Adz (pronounced ‘odds’) will be the first longplayer for Stevens since Illinoise in 2005 (hey Sufjan how’s that 50 states concept career coming along?). The album will feature 11 tracks and span an epic 70 minutes in length.

Asthmatic Kitty revealed that the album will focus on “the personal and primal: love, sex, death, disease, illness, anxiety and suicide.” While laso hinting at an aesthetic change in direction: “We can say it shows an extensive use of electronics (banjos and acoustic guitars give way to drum machines and analog synthesizers), and an obsession with cosmic fantasies (space, heaven, aliens, love), to create an explicit pop-song extravaganza, augmented by heavy orchestration, and maybe even a few danceable moments. Enjoy Your Rabbit meets The BQE. But with songs. Verse, chorus, bridge, backbeat. Gated reverb. Space echo. Get your boogey on.”

The Age of Adz tracklist:

01. Futile Devices – 2:11?
02. Too Much – 6:44?
03. Age of Adz – 8:00?
04. I Walked – 5:01?
05. Now That I’m Older – 4:56?
06. Get Real Get Right – 5:10?
