Joe Jonas, Of All People, Reckons He Has Intel On A My Chemical Romance Reunion

Not satisfied with allowing his wife Sophie Turner being the only one to spill the tea in the family, Joe Jonas has randomly delivered some major music industry goss bound to wake noughties emos from their slumber: My Chemical Romance are apparently set for a reunion.

Joe broke the news during a chat on UK radio station KISS FM when the Jonas Brothers and hosts Tom Green and Daisy Haskell started gasbagging about what music they loved growing up.

When Green says he loved the noughties emo band My Chemical Romance, Joe excitedly says: “I’ve got some dirt! My Chemical Romance were apparently rehearsing next to us in New York recently. I thought they broke up, so…that’s the gossip!” Doll, don’t you know that the phrase is “That’s the tea”? Sophie would be so ashamed!

Anyway, the news may have come from a very random source in Joe Jonas, but the emo in me is desperate to believe that MCR, who parted ways in 2013, are reforming. Looking back at recent interviews from frontman Gerard Way, the topic has definitely come up. In February, he told NME: “We definitely get offers regularly to reunite – it’s a constant thing. It’s flattering, it’s really nice of people…I miss playing with the guys, but I don’t think so.” WHY, GERARD. WHY.

wahhh dont play with my heart MCR

In the same interview though, Gerard does muse on what a modern-day MCR might look like.

I think if we ever did MCR again, we wouldn’t be in that machine any more. It would literally just be like: ‘Here’s a new piece of music, we’re putting this out and that’s it, this is not up for debate.’

With their classic second album Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge recently turning 15, perhaps the gang are plotting an anniversary show? Or tour? Or entirely new album? I’ll take any of the above, thanks.

Check out the full interview below — the MCR goss is at the 6.15 mark.
