SHIT YEAH: ‘MTV Unplugged’ Is Finally Launching In Aus With Gang Of Youths

MTV Unplugged is an acoustic musical institution that launched in the US in 1989, hosting everyone from Dashboard Confessional to Jay-Z to Florence & The Machine, and famously hosted Nirvana for what would turn out to be Kurt Cobain‘s final TV appearance before his death. If you’re a music nerd, you know how important Unplugged is for the community.

In true Australian fashionably-late-to-the-party style, MTV Australia has announced they’re finally booting up the format in Melbourne.

To kick off the first-ever Aussie Unplugged, the show is setting the bar well and truly high with a very special acoustic set from Gang Of Youths, which I’m about 98% certain is going to collectively ruin all of our hearts.

On June 25 the big gig will be going down at the Cobblestone Pavilion at the Meat Market in North Melbourne and will be recorded for the rest of the nation to watch at their leisure (or if they’d rather weep in private.)

From what can be seen, MTV Australia will be giving out tickets as part of a competition, so keep your eyes peeled on the MTV Unplugged website to score yourself a spot in the crowd.

Now, let us come together and appreciate one of the best Unplugged shows to date, yep mate it’s Chris Isaak direct from 1995 when he was at the height of his hunky crooner phase and had starred in Fire Walk With Me two years prior. Be still my beating heart.
