Missy Elliott Becomes The 1st Female Rapper In Songwriters Hall Of Fame

In hugeeee news, icon Missy Elliott will become the first female hip-hop artist inducted into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame, the organisation announced earlier today.

Elliott, whose career spans over three decades, is a songwriter and producer, a five-time Grammy Award winner, and an artist with six studio albums – all of which are RIAA platinum certified.

Not to mention, she also has a string of songwriting credits and collaborations with Beyoncé (‘Signs’), Whitney Houston (‘In My Business’), Destiny’s Child (‘Confessions’), and Jennifer Hudson (I’m His Only Woman’) to name just a few.

Elliott celebrated the incredible news on Twitter. 

“I want to CONGRATULATE all the AMAZING songwriters who have been inducted into the 2019 ‘Song Writers Hall of Fame’ also those who were nominated because their body of work is AMAZING,” Elliott wrote. “I AM SO HUMBLY GRATEFUL to now be inducted also I love you all.” 

Elliott joins fellow 2019 inductees Dallas Austin – who has written over 50 hit singles -, country star Tom T. Hall, country-folk legend John Prine, American musician Jack Tempchin, and British artist Yusuf (Cat Stevens).

The 2019 induction ceremony will officially take place on June 13 in New York City. 

As you can imagine, the music industry is beyond hyped.
