Miley Cyrus has pulled out of this month’s bushfire benefit concert in Melbourne amid coronavirus fears.

Cyrus was supposed to headline the World Tour Melbourne Bushfire Relief charity concert on March 13, with Lil Nas XThe VeronicasSeb Fontaine, and more on the lineup.

“I am so disappointed to not be there,” Cyrus continued in a separate tweet, “but I have to do what is right to protect the health and safety of my band and crew. I will still be making a donation to help the victims of the Australian bush fire.

“I’m sorry to miss everyone in Australia, but I will be back soon.”

It is not yet known if Lil Nas X will follow suit, and cancel his appearance at the show – considering the air travel involved – but we’ll keep you updated. The benefit concert itself still appears to be going ahead.

Cyrus aside, there has been a number of cancellations around the world amid rising concerns over the spread of coronavirus. On Saturday, Texas film festival SXSW was cancelled for the first time in its 34 years. And just today, unconfirmed reports indicate Coachella 2020 will be delayed until October.
