Michael Jackson Dance Video Game – Shamon!

It’s been just about a year since the King of Pop was finally laid to rest, and it was anyone’s guess as to what would become of his infamously exorbitant Neverland Estate. Strain your mind no longer: Coming to stores this Christmas is the official Michael Jackson video game, brought to you by Ubisoft. What better way to connect with the fallen than through an interactive dance video game.

With the latest in “Kinect” and “Move” motion detection technology, every man and his dog will be able to dance “as good as those guys [presumably those guys means good dancers and not black people] and even better!” That’s what Tony Key, Ubisoft’s marketing vice-president said.

“Your goal is to dance like Michael…do what the guy on the screen is doing and you’re there! It’ll score you based on the quality of your performance!!” We’re pretty sure Tony speaks with many exclamation marks. Unlike last Christmas this year our mourning over Michael won’t be limited to staring longingly at his moves on your special edition CD/DVD copy of This Is It. This Christmas you’ll perform your own special Michael moves – a gift to you by Ubisoft.

There’s no telling what will come next out of Jackson’s death, but what does it matter if it’ll make a quick buck and keep ‘Santa’ on track this Chrissie. We may indeed be disappointed but nay surprised by the extent to which people will capitalise on the fame of a superstar, dead or alive. Ubisoft’s as yet untitled game is just another in the string of creepy post-mortem merchandising efforts which serve purely to make cash. A personal favourite of mine is ‘M’ the new line of fragrances made from Jackson’s DNA.

No chance of R.I.P. for M.J. SHAMON!
