Melbourne Venue The Tote Hit With Molotov Cocktail

One of Australia’s landmark live music venues, Collingwood’s The Tote Hotel came under fire – literally – at 2am today (Monday) when an explosive thought to be a Molotov cocktail was thrown through a bathroom window.

According to reports a toilet cubicle and urinal inside the building were significantly damaged in the attack, taken out from the corner of Johnston and Wellington Streets.

The hotel released a call out for information via its Facebook page:

Last night The Tote Hotel was the victim of an arson attack which damaged a small section of the male toilets. The hotel will trade as usual and no shows will be affected. One toilet will need to be replaced but other than that the only difference you’ll notice is a slight change to the aroma of the men’s room.

The police have video footage of the offender. If anyone has any information about the idiot who could have cost bands their upcoming shows and potentially put our staff and punters in harms way, they should contact crime stoppers.

Anyone who you have heard recently describe the venue as “going off” or “the bomb” should be considered suspicious. Ugh sorry everyone.
