Paint It Black And Take It Back ‘Cos My Chemical Romance Are Chucking A Reunion Gig

I’m going to get this out of the way early: I missed out on a My Chemical Romance phase. I am not sure how, given I was in the precise target demographic when Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge and The Black Parade tore up the MySpace charts, but my poorly-straightened hair and I skated straight past Gerard Way & Co.

But seeing as the band announced a one-off reunion show overnight, there’s still a chance for me to figure out if all their songs rip as hard as The Ghost Of You.

Taking to their social media channels and the official MCR website, the emo kingpins revealed their first gig since more-or-less disintegrating in 2013. Taking place at Los Angeles’ Shrine Expo Hall on Friday, December 20, the gig promises to be a primo chance for fans to scream their little lungs out one more time.

The gang has been busy in the years since 2013, too. Gerard Way has been busy with solo tunes and turning his Umbrella Academy comics into a show for Netflix, while Mikey Way and Frank Iero have been shredding in their own projects.

Whether the band pivots back to MCR on a permanent basis is yet to be seen, and Australian fans who slogged through summer Soundwave Festivals should keep their seasonally-inappropriate black tees stowed away for a while yet. Still, it’s very promising. Happy Emo Christmas, folks.
