Mariah Quits Social Media Over NYE Fiasco But Not Before Going Full Mariah

We’re into the second week of 2017 (da faq did that happen) but the delicious drama over Mariah Carey‘s botched New Year’s Eve performance shows no sign of slowing down: from claims of sabotage by Ryan Seacrest‘s production team to her manager going right fkn off, it keeps getting better.
The latest development is Mimi’s announcement – via social media – that she’s quitting social media for the foreseeable future “to be with her loved ones” i.e. as a means to stop herself reading a ton of not-very-nice tweets about her epic fail.
In a muffled recording posted to Twitter, the 46-year-old ~diva~ doubled down on her team’s assurances the Times Square went spectacularly, horribly, awfully wrong due to technical failures outside of her control.
“I haven’t really addressed the situation that happened on New Year’s Eve and, in time, I will, but for now, I want everyone to know that I came to New Year’s Eve in New York in great spirits and was looking forward to a celebratory moment with the world,” she said.

“It’s a shame that we were put into the hands of a production team with technical issues who chose to capitalise on circumstances beyond our control.

“It’s not practical for a singer to sing live and be able to hear themselves properly in the middle of Times Square with all the noise, the freezing cold, the smoke from the smoke machines, thousands of people celebrating – specially when their ear monitors were not working at all. Listen, guys – they foiled me.

“Thus, it turned into an opportunity to humiliate me and all those who were excited to ring in the new year with me.”
Mimi added she’ll be breaking from her social channels until March, when she tours the US with Lionel Richie.
“I’m going to take a break from media moments, social media moments. Although I am going to fulfil my professional obligations, this is an important time for me to finally take a moment for myself and to be with my loved ones and prepare for my upcoming tour in March.”
You can listen to her rambling in full below.

Before you start feeling bad for her, though, remember that she’ll probably be shrugging off all them humiliated feels from inside a multi-million dollar private jet – unlike the rest of us economy-class plebs.

Counting down the days ’til March tbh.
