M.I.A. Pens Music For Julian Assange’s “The World Tomorrow” TV Show

The television series of WikiLeaks editor, Julian Assange (no, not that television series), The World Tomorrow, will make its April 17th debut on RT, or Russia Today and online, set to theme music composed by Maya Arulpragasam, who you might know better as outspoken Sri Lankan hip-pop artist, M.I.A.

A spokesman for Wikileaks, Kristinn Hrafnsson (Hrafns-what?), says M.I.A. met with Assange in London, where he’s been held under well-publicised house arrest for over a year. Twelve episodes of the series have already been filmed over the last two months, and will feature “global notables” who “normally simply would not be given a voice on TV at all. What is fair to say is that the majority of what they have said to me they could not say on a mainstream TV network.”

M.I.A. has long been a vocal supporter of Assange, and in 2010 she released a mixtape called “Vicki Leekx.” She has a massive fangirl moment overnight, tweeting the following:

Somehow I get the feeling ‘The World Tomorrow‘ probably won’t have Assange in a silver sequinned onesie drifting through the desert. That I would watch:
