Using his Words I Never Said (the super extended version) as a base, Fiasco dropped plenty of anti-Obama raps including “Limbaugh is a racist, Glenn Beck is a racist / Gaza Strip was getting
bombed, Obama didn’t say shit. That’s why I ain’t vote for him, next one
either,” before he was eventually kick, pushed the fuck off-stage by security guards. Media company HyperVocal, a partner of StartUp RockOn, stated that they did not cut Fiasco’s set short because of his anti-Obama sentiment, “instead, after a bizarrely
repetitive, jarring performance that left the crowd vocally
dissatisfied, organizers decided to move on to the next act.” As the the video evidence suggests, there was probably way too many walking bass lines and too much excessive funking-out for your average pop concert.
While Lupe comes off looking like a bit of a bone-head, at least he stands by his beliefs and convictions. The real questions is, who the hell thought it was a good idea to book a staunch Obama critic as the headline act at an Obama inauguration party? I thought Lupe made his stance pretty clear in 2011 when he controversially claimed “My fight against terrorism, to me, the biggest terrorist is Obama in the United States of America.” Seriously, it would have taken one dope backstage cheese platter to alter Lupe from his course.
Not that this is likely to bother Obama who has reveled in his hip-hop heavy support base. Haters gonna hate.
