Lorde Took Out A Full-Page NZ Newspaper Ad Thanking All Of Her Blessed Fans

Oh, bless.

Lorde has gone ahead and placed a full-page ad in today’s edition of the New Zealand Herald, thanking local fans for their continual support, and shouting out everyone who put their faith in female musicians.

The lovely gesture comes two days after the 21-year-old’s record Melodrama was beaten by Bruno Mars’ 24K Magic for the Best Album Grammy Award, at a ceremony which also omitted a live performance from the category’s only woman.

The hand-written note, which included a slew of diaristic ad-libs (Jay-Z‘s hands are really soft ❤️”) and a nod to her brother Angelo, reads as follows:

OH, HI THERE!

I’m writing this from New York City. Angelo and I sat in Madison Square Garden last night & I saw a lot of crazy & wonderful things.

I just wanted to say thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for loving and embracing Melodrama the way you did. My nomination belongs to you.

Thank you, also, for believing in female musicians [emphasis hers]. You set a beautiful precedent!

All my love,

Lorde x

The message comes as Recording Academy president Neil Portnow issued a statement regarding his claim that women in the industry need to “step up” if they want further recognition in further Grammy Awards ceremonies.

Oh, for the record: Lorde has that intel about Jay-Z’s hands on good authority.
