Almost as if she knew that we are all desperately yearning for a boost of serotonin and happiness in our lives, Lizzo has announced she’s dropping new music really soon. I might not be feeling good as hell just yet, but I’m definitely feeling marginally better as hell.
She announced the incoming track on her Instagram in the wee hours of Tuesday morning, confirming that ‘Rumours‘ will be with us on August 13 – quite literally next week. Battle stations, people, shit’s about to hit the fan in the best way possible.
Not only is this some new music from our collective fave, but Lizzo’s also declared that this is going to mark a new era from her. It feels like we’ve collectively reached a point of wanting to turn a new leaf, so a brand new Lizzo era feels right. It feels good. It feels necessary.
Farewell to the Cuz I Love You era, and a glorious hello to the Rumours era. The sun is warming up, the days are getting longer, and I’m extremely ready for a Lizzo comeback. It’s what we need, it’s what we deserve, and it’s definitely what we’re ready for.
‘Rumours‘ is the first new music we’ve heard from Lizzo since she dropped ‘Tempo‘ with Missy Elliott back in July 2019 – which feels like a fucking age ago, to be honest with you. So we’re just about due for another blessing from her to absolutely fuck it up to.
The new track isn’t the only rumours that Lizzo’s been entwined with lately, with the internet going into overdrive with whispers she might be collaborating with Harry Styles in some capacity.
Strangely, a bunch of radio stations posted the same photo of them together with the caption “busy being unbothered”, causing fans to suddenly think there’s a collab release coming calling ‘Unbothered’.
