Listen To Beyoncé and Andre 3000 Cover ‘Back To Black’ For ‘The Great Gatsby’

“Flattered and honoured” is how Mark Ronson politely describes his reaction to André 3000 and Beyoncé’s wub-wub cover of Back To Black, the song he produced with the late, great Amy Winehouse – a hard act to follow, even if you’re Beyoncé and André 3000, apparently.

As he’s wont to do with everything, Amy’s father Mitch Winehouse has already voiced his disapproval over the divisive cover, which plays liberally with both the song’s use of pronouns and its entire vibe. Thankfully, however, the acute-accented duo saw fit to keep all the “eastvillageradio.com” lyric drops that made the original recording so, so special. Pure poetry.
The Great Gatsby soundtrack, which also features contributions from Florence and The Machine, Sia, Lana Del Rey and Fergie, is out May 6th well ahead of the film’s Australian release on May 30th.
