Lindsey Buckingham Is Suing The Rest Of Fleetwood Mac For Kicking Him Out

As a messy bitch who loves drama, I truly live for 70s rockers Fleetwood Mac, and this week, the situation with the band has gotten even wilder, with ex-member Lindsey Buckingham suing the remaining members for kicking him out.

Earlier this week, Buckingham told Rolling Stone that he was ousted from the group at the behest of former lover Stevie Nicks, who said she never wanted to share a stage with him again, and that this information was relayed to him in a phone call from their manager.

Stevie Nicks herself had a bit more of a diplomatic take on things, saying that the rest of Fleetwood Mac were itching to go back out on tour, but that Lindsey Buckingham was holding things up, so they made the decision to let him go as a group.

Whatever it is that actually happened, Buckingham is still fuming about it, and yesterday, he announced that he is suing the band for breach of fiduciary and breach of oral contract, and saying he is owed $12 million for their latest tour.

The Hollywood Reporter saw a copy of the complaint, which read, in part:

“During the entire time Buckingham has been a member of Fleetwood Mac, the Band has conducted itself as a partnership with each of the participating members having veto rights over Band decision making and an equal share of the proceeds earned by Fleetwood Mac.”

The remaining members of the group have responded with a statement of their own, saying “Fleetwood Mac strongly disputes the allegations presented in Mr. Buckingham’s complaint and looks forward to their day in court.”

Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham joined the already-established Fleetwood Mac in 1974, leading to what would be the biggest and most successful era of the band, with the release of their self-titled album in 1975 and Rumours in 1977.

Nicks sang and wrote iconic songs like ‘Dreams‘, ‘Rhiannon‘ and ‘Landslide‘, while Buckingham was responsible for classics like ‘Go Your Own Way‘ and the 1980s hit ‘Big Love‘.

Neil Finn of Crowded House was hired by the band to replace Buckingham on its current tour.
