Lily Allen Writing Songs For Bridget Jones Musical?

Last year Lily Allen announced her indefinite retirement from music to concentrate on other things – like her fashion career and saving rainforests, but apparently she’s keeping one foot in the industry by ‘doing an Elton’ and writing the score for (gulp) Bridget Jones: The Musical.

There’s something genuinely frightening about the prospect of an all-singing all-dancing Bridget Jones. Can’t you just hear the songs now?
(To the tune of “The Fear” by Lily Allen) “Twenty units of gin and a carton of ciggies / Come around Mr Darcy and let’s have a quickie / blah blah blah smug marrieds / blah blah blah pass the gin, I’ve gained three pounds.” and so on.

Lily has already written one song about Bridget suffering food indecision and not knowing what to eat, which has the potential to be amazing.

Emma Bunton AKA Baby Spice from The Spice Girls is tipped to play Bridget. Only kidding. But she somehow feels right for the role.
