Lil Nas X Is Absolutely Keen On An ‘Old Town Road’ Remix With Mariah Carey

Lil Nas X, unstoppable, is keen to do yet another ‘Old Town Road’ remix with… [pause for effect] Mariah Carey. This latest update comes on the heels of his new remix featuring Young Thug, yodelling Walmart child Mason Ramsey, and of course Billy Ray Cyrus.

Will we ever escape the clutches of this tune? Probably not. I wouldn’t be surprised if remixes of ‘Old Town Road’ outlive the human race. It’s even a big ol’ meme now with a bunch of fans and celebrities tweeting about what the future will look like in 50 years, when the earth is ruined and ‘Old Town Road’ remix 513 has just been released.

Hell, even Ramsey got involved.

Meanwhile…

A couple of hours after he fired off the above tweet, Lil Nas X – real name Montero Lamar Hill – tweeted: “Ok mariah carey lets get this remix in” which, at this point in 2019, could honestly end up happening. It probably won’t but it could, especially when the queen herself responded to the tweet.

She’s playing with us.

For 14 weeks now, Lil Nas X has occupied the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 singles chart. Only a select few in the business have achieved the feat of sitting at No. 1 for at least 10 weeks. As it so happens, Carey and Boyz II Men held the coveted throne for 16 whole weeks for their 1995 song ‘One Sweet Day‘.

According to Billboard, only one other song has achieved the 16-week reign and that’s 2017 ‘Despacito’ by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee, featuring Justin Bieber.

With the way things are going, there’s a solid chance Lil Nas X will hit the magic number too. Or even, dare I say it, surpass it.

You can listen to the latest remix of ‘Old Town Road’ below.

Alternatively, there’s also a lyric video which consists of talking head emojis. At the time of writing, it holds the No. 2 spot on YouTube’s trending charts.

“If you ain’t got no giddie up then giddie out my way” – Mason Ramsey, 2019.
