Legendary Black Metal Muso Accidentally Elected To His Local Council

Norwegian black metal legend Fenriz, of the band Darkthrone, is best known for his huge metal tunes and the massively influential three albums A Blaze in the Northern Sky, Under a Funeral Moon and Transilvanian Hunger, has been elected to his local council against his will.

Yep. After agreeing to join the backup list of candidates for his local neighbourhood council in Kolbotn, Oslo, and posting a photo of himself with a cat and specifically telling people not to vote for him, he was elected.
“They called and asked if I wanted to be on the list [of backup representatives],” he told a local publication. “I said yeah, thinking I would be like 18th on the list and I wouldn’t really have to do anything. They just need a list to be able to … well, it’s hard to talk local politics in another language.”
He continued, explaining his new role. “Basically, I have to step in when the usual people who go to the big meetings are sick or something. Then I have to go sit there and feel stupid among the straight people. I’m a pillar of my community.”

He can’t use his extremely metal pseudonym, unfortunately. He’ll serve as Gylve Fenris Nagell, for a term of four years. Sorry mate.
