Lauryn Hill Touring Again After 12 Years

The divine Ms Lauryn Hill, who has been largely absent from the live music scene since the end of the ’90s has announced her first proper US tour this week.

Hill, who came to prominence as part of rap crew The Fugees before dropping the Grammy-winning The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill, disappeared off the map in the wake of her massive success and has remained elusive for most of the noughties. She broke the dry spell when she visited Australia as part of the Ragamuffin Festival last year when former Fugee Wyclef Jean pulled out due to the earthquake in his home country of Haiti.

Hill, scheduled to perform at this year’s Coachella festival, had been playing shows sporadically through 2010, but her stage antics (see above) apparently leave a lot to be desired. In December last year, she left New York fans waiting until midnight despite a scheduled 8pm start, before telling them “I spent my entire 20s sacrificing my life to give you love. So when I hear people complain, I don’t know what to tell you… I personally know I’m worth the wait.”

Ain’t that the truth.
