Three Acts You Should Definitely Check Out At Laneway’s Wild Block Party

You mighta seen the news today that Laneway are bringing back the vibes of the festival’s early days with BLOCK PARTY – a festival within the festival which makes it all feel like a wild street party again. It should be a good-ass time.

There are some juicy Aussie acts playing at BLOCK PARTY, and not all of them have the kind of mainstream exposure as many of the Laneway mainstagers. Keen to pop along to enjoy the festivities at your leg of Laneway but don’t know when to notch in some time on your schedule? Let us be your guide to some of the acts worth seeing (and partying with).

Willaris K

Willaris K is very good. The producer from northern NSW is incredibly canny at producing dense, cerebral tracks that build from simple textures into frankly quite massive tunes (Dour Nights is especially a banger).

This is the music for the kind of block party when everyone – through some kind of process of psychic bonding we don’t pretend to understand – melds their minds at the exact point of the drop. Also, everyone is very sweaty. It should be fun.

Haiku Hands

Look, this new dance/electronic/hip hop/punk collective may have only got one big tune under their belt, but it’s a hell of a banger. I can absolutely guarantee you that when they drop Not About You, there’ll be no place you’d rather be at the festival at that precise moment.

Their live performances are known for being utterly over the top and completely rambunctious, too – so it should be doubly as fun when you’re all packed into the BLOCK PARTY. Get around ’em.

B Wise

B Wise is basically a shining light of everything Aussie hip-hop could be and should be. Though you probably know him from 2015’s excellent tune (and accompanying video) Prince Akeemhis output is consistently tops.

The beats are invariably great – and huge – and it’s sure to be a helluva time hearing ’em at BLOCK PARTY.
