Lana Del Rey Either Writing Songs For ‘Great Gatsby’ Or Is Just Really Excited To See It

Chanteuse, retro fetishist and your national anthem, Lana Del Rey, is either contributing a song to the soundtrack of Baz Luhrmann’s imminent adaptation of The Great Gatsby or like the rest of us she’s just really really excited to see the film when it premieres May 10th; hopefully, fingers crossed.

Like a twentysomething Pinterest fiend who’ll reblog anything to do with actor-on-hiatus Leonardo DiCaprio, Del Rey posted an image of the film’s logo to her Facebook timeline yesterday. The image has since been removed (probably because Florence Welch or someone posted the exact same thing, ugh, why does she always copy me?) but a cryptic tweet lives on.

Rumours of Grant’s involvement in the film’s soundtrack, which will supposedly feature contributions from Jay-Z, Prince and Lady Gaga, have been flying like shirts in 3D since she told a reporter, “I’ve been helping compose scores for movies. So, like, there’s a moving coming out in the summer that’s set in the 1920s and it’s been fun for me to write love songs for a woman who is the star.” A star, or a single green light, minute and faraway, that might be the end of a dock?
It’s a sentiment she also reiterated during a phone call with triple j during their Hottest 100 countdown (where she placed #86), and in an interview with Australian Vogue, in which she expressed a desire to “branch into film work and stay there.”
Very cryptic. Lizzie also attended this weekend’s GRAMMY MusiCares Party wearing her hair fashioned in a new chin-length bob style. This is what you call ‘incontrovertible proof.’
If this isn’t the case, Lana Del Rey’s songwriting contribution to Tyler Perry’s We The Peeples [also the only other movie out on May 10th] is sure to be a highlight of what we’ll look back on and fondly remember as <3 The Best Summer Eva <3
