Months after Lady Gaga set us all a-hypin’ with the knowledge she was laying down tracks with Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker and Uptown Funk conspirator Mark Ronson, she’s finally released the first slippery cut from those sessions.
Perfect Illusion is her first single in yonks, notwithstanding Til It Happens To You, which was penned for The Hunting Ground’s soundtrack. It’s theatric as hell, and shows off that tremulous belter of a voice. Like you’d expect any less from her cracking set of pipes, tbh.
Moreover, it legitimately bears the hallmarks of Parker’s more recent production: creamy synths melding together before an anthemic key change. Classic stuff. Essentially, if you want to vibe out to a condensed version of Let It Happen with powerhouse female vox, Gaga now has you sorted.
