Kyle and Jackie O Will Not Be Returning To Radio In 2014

Inexplicably popular radio duo Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O will not be returning to radio as The Kyle and Jackie O Show in 2014, after more than a decade together on air and one thousand lifetime’s worth of godawfulness.
During their time on the airwaves hosting the Hot 30, drive and breakfast shows – maintaining a stranglehold on the number one spot with the latter for over six years, with 50 consecutive surveys placing them at number one – the inimitable duo have been responsible for some of Australian radio’s most memorable moments.
There have been good times and there have been other times. Like that time when Sandilands labelled a journalist a “fat slag” and a “bitter piece of shit” without sufficient “titty to be wearing that low cut a blouse” because she didn’t like his TV show; or that time when a 14-year-old girl was strapped to a lie detector and revealed she had been raped at 12 after repeatedly being prompted by Sandilands to reveal her sexual history; and then there was the time when Sandilands trivialised the experience of millions by saying Magda Szubanski might benefit from time spent “in a concentration camp [where] you watch the weight fall off… like she could be skinny.” These are just three of many golden moments; it’s been a great time to be alive.
“We’re proud that Kyle and Jackie have not only given Sydney radio audiences the most entertaining radio show ever, they have also raised millions of dollars for charities and those in need whilst also enthralling listeners with the world’s hottest music artists and exclusive interviews with famous Hollywood celebrities. They have certainly lived up to their show mantra ‘Breakfast with the Stars’! None of which could have happened without the strong and dedicated team working hard behind the scenes,” said 2DayFM in a statement emphasising the mutual appreciation and consultation that went into the joint decision.
The final Kyle and Jackie O Show will go to air at 6am on Friday November 29th. They’ll be put out to pasture the next day.
Good riddance.
