Last night in Sydney A Tribe Called Quest led an exercise in timelessness at their first ever Australian show. Apparently “Can I Kick It” wasn’t the only bomb that got dropped last night: a source who went to the show told us Maseo from De La Soul (who played a DJ set before Tribe went on) announced that KRS-One is coming to Australia. The chances of this being true are reasonable considering KRS is due to release a new album Back to the L.A.B (Lyrical Ass Beating) this year and has a bunch of international tour dates planned; plus it’s pretty unlikely the guy whose name is an acronym of ‘Making A Soul Effort’ would do something as un-soul as spouting lies.
A Tribe Called Quest are playing Festival Hall in Melbourne tonight so keep your ears pricked for more of Mase’s cats-out-of-bags.
