Like his multitasking peers, there’s more to Kid Cudi than stoner anthems and manhandling fans (fanhandling?). Apparently the dude can act too.
Following in Eminem, Ice Cube and 50’s footsteps the Cleveland native will step in front of the camera for a new HBO series called “How To Make It In America”. Produced by Mark Wahlberg the show will follow a group of twenty-somethings as they hustle their way through New York City, determined to achieve the American Dream. A teaser dropped yesterday and it looks like a more hipster-ish, NYC version of Entourage with lower Production values and less silicon. Hmmm.
Let’s break this shit down. Fade up thrashy soundtrack. Fast cuts of NYC being NYC. Cut to various forms of “hustling”. Cut to Cudi. Cut to potential “model” or “fashion industry” character. Cut to disgruntled dude who works in retail. Cut to dude rocking the mic. Cut to Merlin Bronques doppelganger OR Merlin Bronques. More shots of NYC being NYC. Random party footage. Uplifting titles about making it in America. Fin.
It all seems a bit conceited and self consciously cool but hey, we’ll watch it anyway plus LUIS GUZMAN bitches! Everyone needs a ‘lil more Guzman in their life.
