If anyone’s going to cover ‘Shallow’, Kelly Clarkson is the woman to do it. During her concert on Friday night, the artist performed a stunning rendition of the song sung by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper from the Oscar-nominated film A Star Is Born.

“It’s cool just to know that someone that talented is also really nice,” Clarkson said as she introduced the song. “This song I just love it… I thought she and Bradley Cooper did such an awesome job with this song, it’s called ‘Shallow.’ So we’re gonna do our version of it, because obviously I don’t have a Bradley Cooper here, so I’m just holding it down. I hope I don’t suck, and if I do, I hope she doesn’t see it!”

Following their surprise performance of the song during Enigma, Gaga and Cooper will perform ‘Shallow’ at the 91st Academy Awards ceremony on Sunday February 24 (Monday for us). Although, if you’re expecting Cooper to bring out Jackson Maine, you might just be a tad disappointed because the actor recently revealed he’ll be performing the tune as himself.
“He’s gone, I’m not going to try and get him back. But I will be me singing,” Cooper said of his character on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
