Kele Okereke Talks New Books, Haircuts and Nudity

Charismatic Bloc Party frontman, Kele Okereke, destroyed his Saturday evening set at Splendour In The Grass with a selection of tunes from his electronics-heavy solo project. Before he hit the stage Kele caught up with Pedestrian to discuss, amongst other things, a book he is in the process of writing. Kele said he has almost finished a collection of fictional short stories inspired by his current home city, New York. While there is no set date of when the book will be published and released, he did tell us that the main theme of the book is ‘crises’. We can imagine that the guy who wrote the lyrics It’s so cold in this house / Open mouth swallowing us / The children staying home from school / Will not stop crying (“Like Eating Glass”, 2005) might have a natural aptitude for articulating the darker side of life with words. Kele also talked about his pending 30th birthday and being naked. Watch excerpts from the interview below…
