Katy Perry Spends An Entire Year In The Billboard Top 10

Katy Perry has broken chart history in America as the only star in over fifty years to spend an entire year in the top ten of the Billboard 100 chart.

Perry, who is currently on tour in Australia, began her Teenage Dream run last May when she released ‘California Gurls’, which gave way to three more hit singles, including ‘Firework’ and ‘E.T.’ The tracks were cycled in such a way that Perry never dropped below No. 10 on the Billboard Charts in the ensuing 52 weeks, and all four of them peaked at No. 1.

Perry’s closest competitors were Ace Of Base, Santana and Mariah Carey who spent 48, 42 and 41 consecutive weeks in Billboard’s Top 10 respectively. Perry is about to release her fifth single, ‘Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F)’ which may add to her already impressive streak.
