One doesn’t usually associate high fashion with barnyard animals do they? Actually leather goods straddle both camps – but aside from quilted Chanel handbags the synergy between Molly the cow and Haute Couture is non-existent right? Wrong. In his latest Chanel collection Karl Lagerfeld takes inspiration from the farm via hay bale surrounds and pastoral undertones. Burlap Chic one might call it or worse still, Agricouture.
Either way Lagerfeld’s rustic take on classic Chanel pieces and a not so impromptu performance by Chanel ambassador Lily Allen had the celeb-studded front row crowing (Leigh Lezark, Claudia Schiffer, Irina Lazareanu, Sean Lennon, Kemp Muhl, Virginie Ledoyen, Rihanna and Prince). OK I’m gonna stop now….
