Karen Elson And Jack White Combine For Video

There isn’t a good track record for models turned musicians. Kate Moss, Heidi Klum and Tyra Banks have all had a go at the microphone, with mostly cringe-worthy results. Karen Elson might change all that though. The fiery red head, who won model of the year at the VH1 fashion awards in 1998 and the British Fashion Award for Best Model in 2005, is set to release an album – and from what we’ve heard it doesn’t sound half bad.

In 2006 Elson recorded a saucy rendition of Serge Gainsburg’s Je T’aime Moi Non Plus with Cat Power and has also worked with cabaret act The Citizens’ Band. Of course the fact that Elson is married to Jack White might have something to do with the surprising quality of her solo debut (he produced the record for her). We probably shouldn’t speak too soon though, so far we’ve only heard an acoustic version of the title track The Ghost Who Walks. The clip for the song, directed by White, gives a literal meaning to the term ‘acoustic’:

Her album won’t be out for a few months yet, but until then you can get your fix by heading over to Elson’s website and downloading the single.
