Kanye Ruins Monday By Reportedly Saying He’ll Never Make Secular Music Again

Hey, remember this wildly optimistic headline?

I do, and I remember the mounting hype that Kanye West was preparing to release a gospel album on September 27. That did not come to pass, and streaming services are currently without new Christ-inspired bars from the legendary rapper.

However, Chicago rap blogger Andrew Barber reports Jesus Is King, West’s gospel-inspired project, is very real.

Taking to Twitter after Kanye premiered the record’s visual accompaniment at Chicago’s Fox Theater, Barber said the beats “pulled from elements of previous sounds that people loved from WTT, 808s, Yeezus, Cruel Summer & MBDTF.”

The project reportedly features both members of Clipse and Kenny G on one song, reflecting his longrunning appreciation for Pusha T, No Malice, and the veteran saxsmith.

Notably, Barber said the mercurial musician also vowed to avoid secular music in the future, instead opting to release more Christ-adjacent music in the vein of his ongoing Sunday Service sessions.

While PEDESTRIAN.TV has been unable to independently verify Barber’s report, the shift would represent a marked change for a musician known for, well, this.

Keep your eyes and earholes peeled.
