Maybe we were spoiled with a particularly great string of Like A Version efforts in 2017, but the offerings thus far in 2018 have felt a little below the mark. Triple J‘s annual Friday feast of cover tunes has put up some great renditions, to be sure. But so far nothing that’s hit the mark and stuck. Enter: your mate and mine, Joyride.
The loveable and gentle giant from Sydney had his turn at the wheel of the Like a Version ship, stopping by Aunty’s offices to lay down a cool spin on a stone cold pop classic.
A certified banger and guaranteed karaoke floor-filler, Kelly Clarkson‘s 2004 mega-hit Since U Been Gone isn’t exactly the easiest tune to put a new spin on, but bless his heart, Don Joyride does some of his best work on this one.
A cool, but hot, way to start your Friday, to be sure. Wrap yr listening gear around this gem.
Huge areas, absolutely huge. A definite contender for Like a Version of the year, that’s for dang sure.
