John Butlers Settles With Creators Of Greek Yoghurt Ad

John Butler has reached what has been called a “satisfactory settlement” (we wonder how many zeroes it takes to satisfy JB?) with the American agency who thought they could just steal his music without anyone noticing. What? You didn’t think John Butler fans have computers? The commercial for Dannon Oikos Greek yogurt, which aired during the Superbowl a few months back and featured John “Uncle Jesse” Stamos, was immediately flagged by JBT fans who noticed an inarguable similarity to his ’03 hit song “Zebra”.

Butler’s management team issued the following statement this morning:

“Australian musician John Butler and USA advertising agency, Poptent, the creators of the Dannon Oikos yoghurt advertisement which initially aired during the 2012 Super Bowl, have come to a satisfactory settlement in relation to the use of a song in the advertisement that bore a strong similarity to his composition “Zebra”. The advertisement will no longer contain this particular piece of music and both parties are happy this issue is behind them.

We thank all JBT fans worldwide for their support on this matter. No further comment will be entered into.”

We hope the settlement affords him at least a dozen goats of impeccable pedigree, a lifelong subscription to High Times and the luxury dreadlock maintenance services usually reserved for nu-metal has-beens and Jamaican royalty. You sure deserve it John.
