Well folks, Jesus may be King, but today we’re praising Lord Yeezy because his latest album Jesus Is King has officially dropped. I repeat: Jesus Is King has dropped.
Hallelujah.

Kanye West has been teasing us for months with the idea of a new album, and although we’re yet to receive Yandhi, Ye has delivered the goods in with Jesus Is King this morning.

He dropped a short, to-the-point tweet earlier today that absolutely hit the nail on the head. “JESUS IS KING Midnight,” the tweet read, followed by an official-looking tracklist.

In true YeEzY fashion, Kanye couldn’t even give us a timezone, so you bet your ass I’ve been on #yeezwatch all day, waiting for the second this bad boy finally dropped.
Kanye is notoriously bad at sticking to deadlines, and is renowned for writing massive chunks of albums at the last possible second. But somehow, Jesus Is King is his ninth glorious studio album, so whatever he’s doing is clearly working.
Kanye seems to have been on a bit of a fucked up spiritual journey ever since he dropped Life Of Pablo, but it is undeniable that he’s a creative genius, so maybe all of these delays are just a part of the artistic process? Who knows?
Thanks to his weekly Sunday Service performances, fans already knew what to expect when Jesus Is King finally dropped. But they were a little shocked to see that the tracklist only featured 11 songs, leaving out his collaborative work with Nicki Minaj, “New Body”.
However, it looks like this song may have been cut from the final record due to creative differences between Nicki and Ye.
“What’s funny is that I did a song with Kanye, that he now wants to transform into a gospel song,” she said in a recent interview with The Shade Room. “I done wrote three different verses chile, and I don’t know. We ain’t seeing eye to eye on it. I don’t know, but of course, I love and respect Kanye, and Kim, we’ll see what happens with that.”
But that’s not the only change to the tracklist since Kim Kardashian West’s initial leak back in August. After various listening parties and strategic tracklist leaks, Kanye’s latest record has changed dramatically.

The album is Kanye’s first release since he announced that he’s dropping his previous musical vibes and heading in an exclusively gospel direction in future.
Honestly, I’m not even surprised. He gave us the holy text that is My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, what were you expecting?
Kanye really went full-Yeez with this release, and honestly, I’m just glad that the bandaid has finally been ripped off and we can just enjoy Jesus Is King in peace. If you need me, I’ll be cancelling all of my plans for the weekend and binge-listening to JIK until it’s burned into my brain.
Happy Friday, Mr West. Jesus Is King is live and ready to bless your eardrums. Happy listening.
